Abortion and Politics

We often hear politicians say, "I personally believe that abortion is wrong, but I would never impose that view on anyone else." Anyone who says this is lying. If a person really believes that abortion is morally wrong, they do so because they think that life begins at conception, which makes abortion an act of murder.
But if abortion is an act of murder…if it really takes the life of someone who deserves to live, then of course we must impose that view on others. Would the same people agree to a law against killing your seven-year-old daughter be a violation of your privacy, of your right to choose?
I am not saying that it is morally wrong to vote for someone who supports abortion. The Church has stopped short of going quite that far. We must remember, though, that we cannot logically be any less repulsed by a candidate that supports abortion as we are by a candidate that would allow every child between the ages of seven and eight to be murdered by his or her parents of a physician.
