Why can I not hear AM 1060 after dark?
AM 1060 is a daytime, Catholic talk radio station. The signal, as dictated by the Federal Communications Commission, rises and sets with the sun. If we were to broadcast during the hours of darkness our AM 1060, Canton signal would interfere with the AM 1060 signal in Philadelphia PA, which has senority over our station. Why do you not play music on AM 1060? Our goal is to motivate our listeners to further their knowledge of the Catholic Faith and to seek a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. We take the responsibility of broadcasting the teachings of the Catholic Faith very seriously. We believe this goal can be accomplished best through instruction rather than music. Can you explain this iPhone app and what it is? The broadcast industry is constantly changing. This has been the case since the inception of the internet and cell phone technology. There are several new ways to deliver audio to mobile devices. These devices include cell phones which double as a small hand held computer. The most popular of this type of device is produced by Apple and is called an iPhone. Two other similar devices which do not double as cell phones are the iPod touch and the iPad. They both work the same, the iPad is just a bit larger in size. An "app" is just short for application which is a special program available to perform a certain task, they are used for everything from games to productivity to reference, news and more. The Living Bread Radio App gives you the ability to listen to our programming (AM 1060) on your mobile device not only when we are on the air, but 24 hours a day. This unit can then in turn be connected to headphones or to a special type of radio unit. For further information about these devices and how to use them, view next FAQ. At this time, the only mobile devices supported are the iPhone, iPod touch and the iPad. What do I need in order to get an iPhone app up and running? The following answer will apply to all 3 units but will explain the use of an iPod touch, also an iPhone will use broadband service. You'll need the following:
