Prayers for Bishop George Murry

The Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Youngstown is once again suffering from leukemia. It is not as intense as last year, but it needs attention.

Bishop Murry is at the Cleveland Clinic for a 28-day program of chemotherapy.  The goal will be to prepare him for a bone marrow transplant in September, which his doctors believe is the best way to prevent another occurrence of the cancer.

During his time in the hospital, Monsignor Robert Siffrin (Vicar General), Monsignor Peter Polando (Judicial Vicar), Monsignor John Zuraw (Chancellor) and Fr. John Jerek (Vicar for Clergy) will meet with him weekly to discuss diocesan matters.

The Bishop humbly asks that the people of the diocese pray for him and promises his prayers in return.

We extend our deepest thoughts and prayers to Bishop Murry, our Shepherd, and to the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown.
